Things to Do

Try all kinds of different things to show Jesus you love Him.
Pray to Jesus anytime day or night - He is always there.

Help someone even if you aren't asked

Bible Verse:  "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do."  Ephesians 2:10.

Is there an older person in your neighborhood who can't get out of the house very often, or who doesn't have many visitors?  Ask your parent(s) to go and meet them, and set a time each week to visit.  Then offer to do small chores for them if they need it.  For example, ask if you can mow their lawn or take out  their garbage each week.

Does your room need to be cleaned but you're waiting until you absolutely have to?  Try cleaning it without being asked.  It will put a smile on the face of your parent!

You can make a list of other ways to help without being asked.  Then, once a week pick another item and make someone else's day!

Have you ever felt lonely?  I'll bet you have and you know it doesn't feel very good.  Wouldn't it have felt better if just one person had come and asked you to join in the fun?

Go ahead!  Make someone's day!  Ask them to play at recess or eat lunch with you and your friends.  Better yet, invite them to your home over a vacation time so you can get to know one another.
Talk to your parents about attending a Lutheran School

The school you belong to now is probably a very good school!  Most of them are great.  But did you know there are schools that are Lutheran?  You probably wonder what that means.  Well, it means that most of your teachers and other workers are Lutheran, and all of your classes are taught with Christ at the center.  You'll be surrounded by people who love Jesus and will teach you to love Him too.  You even get to pray in class! How great is that?

Your parents can talk with your pastor to see if there is a Lutheran school in your neighborhood.

There is also a Lutheran High School in Missouri where you can live during the school year - just like college!  To learn more about St Paul's Lutheran High School, go to the following website - www.splhs.org

Collect food from your neighbors for a food shelf

You are in a great position to help.  Your parents are able to have food on your table for each meal, and probably for snack time too!  Did you know there are  many families that aren't able to do that?  Why not help them out?

Ask your parents and friends to help go door-to-door and collect food for your local food shelf.  It will feel great to know another child your age has good food to eat.

Memorize a Bible verse that makes you smile

Photograph of a bibleGod likes for us to be in the word.  He has given us the Bible so that we can read about the plans He has for us.  It feels good to memorize God's words. They can help you when you feel lonely, sad, or happy.  It will feel like God is right there with you!

Here are some other easy verses that can make you smile

John 3:16:  " For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Ecclesiastes 3:1: " There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven."

John 14:6: "Jesus answered, ' I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.' "

Ephesians 2:8-9: " For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast, "

God gives you all that you have.  It is important to give back to God a portion of what you have.  You'll feel great knowing you are giving to God as he has asked.
