People to See

God has touched your life through numerous faces.  Their experiences provide wonderful lessons. And they know YOU - your heart, gifts, dreams!

Your Pastor

Talk to your pastor regarding your thoughts of entering a church professional career.  Listen for suggestions he may have for making the decision.  Ask him to pray with you and for you as you continue on this journey.

Family members

Your parents, siblings, and other significant family members may all want to weigh in on their ideas for your future career.  Be open and honest with them about your desire to pursue a church professional career.  Keep them informed of major decisions you make, and ask them to pray with you and for you as you continue on this journey.

Friends

Next to your parents, your friends are who you spend the most time with, and share your greatest secrets.  They know what you like and don't like, what makes you laugh and cry.  Talk with them about your faith, and your desire to serve Jesus in everything you do.

Whether your friends are Lutheran or not, they may still have a hard time understanding your desire to serve the church.  Be patient with them, and share your reasons for this decision and how God has spoken to you.  Ask them to pray with you and for you as you continue on this journey.

Be the light to others that they may see Jesus through you.

Current church professionals

If you're struggling with your decision to pursue a professional church career, take some time to discuss your plans with those who are actually doing it!  Find out the path they took along with the joys and frustrations of their ministries.  Remember that God usually gets the glory, not the church professional!

Others who are searching

It is often said that those who understand your predicament the best are those who are in the midst of the same thing.  Seek out others who are searching to make the same decisions about their lives.  Who knows what wisdom may be gleaned from others.

Admission Counselors at Concordia University System schools and Seminaries

Admission counselors are professionals that work at colleges and universities and seminaries helping prospective students learn about their particular schools.  These individuals are often graduates of the schools they work for so have an insiders guide to the student life and the quality education provided there.

These professionals can also answer specific questions you may have regarding the church professional programs offered at their institution.

Church Work program coordinators at Concordia University System schools

Each Concordia University System school that offers church professional programs will have coordinators assigned to each one.  These individuals know their programs inside and out.  Most of them will meet with you one-on-one, answer e-mails or phone calls.

All you need to do is ask!
