Embrace Serving

Photograph of David MuenchThere’s a lot of talk about “wellness” these days. It seems as though many different people are promoting the value of wellness for many different reasons. The What a Way Initiative has begun to speak of “Worker Wellness”. It’s a term we use to reference the challenges and dynamics which impact levels of wellness among LCMS ministers (ordained and commissioned). Worker Wellness is multi-faceted. Where much of the attention today is directed toward the matters related to physical health, our concept of Worker Wellness inter-twines six additional components of wellness, namely the spiritual, emotional, financial, social, vocational and intellectual.

The development and nurture of worker wellness is a high priority for the What a Way Initiative because:

“It was He (Jesus) who gave some to be apostles, some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for work of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up....” Ephesians 4:11-12

As an LCMS minister, you’ve dedicated your life to preparing God’s people…so that His body may be built up. Worker wellness is a high priority for the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. We care deeply about your overall well-being because you are a precious child of God, but as importantly, we care because we know that when ministers are well, the body of Christ is strengthened.

The desire of the What a Way Initiative is to provide ongoing support and care for the men and women who have dedicated their lives to serving the Lord and His church in this way.  At this site, you’ll be able to connect to a multitude of resources to help you identify and nurture wellness in yourself and the others with whom you serve. God bless you with wellness and joy in that service.
