The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod is a family of 2.5 million Christians, gathered in more than 6,000 congregations throughout the United States. Our priorities today are the same as they were when the church body was formed 150 years ago: sharing God's Word and His sacraments, doing mission work and extending the love of Christ through human-care ministries; training pastors, teachers and other professional church workers to lead us into the future; and educating our children in the faith.
We are a people united, not by color, or occupations, or social and economic status, but by our union with the living Lord Jesus Christ and our common confession of the truths of His Word. We rejoice and live in the faith that God has given us. We are eager to share that faith with many others, so that all may come to know Jesus Christ, the one who brings us real peace, deep joy, and life forever.
